For Chromium: whitelisting only works when all opened Twitch tabs are whitelisted channels.
Whitelisting a channel is very easy, you just need to click on the extension's icon (located at the puzzle icon) and click on Whitelist. Your page will automatically refresh and proceed to leave the stream unproxied until you manually remove the Whitelist, repeating the same steps.
You can also manually add or remove whitelisted channels from the Whitelisted channels list on the extension's options page. Click on the extension's icon (located at the puzzle icon) and click on Options.
You'll now find a list to add or remove channels from your proxy whitelist.
